Apollo sic dictu ab Epidclia vico, qui est iexta Maleam Laconiae prom. ubitemplum habebat. Nam post Delum eversam, cum barbarus quidam Apollinis simulacrum per contumeliam in mare proiecisset, posteaqueve ad Peloponnesi litus pervenisset, a Laconibus magna veneratione susceptum est, vocatusque Apollo Epideliusm quasi ex Delo ad vectus.
